Our Story
|
Coco Yoga & Wellness began in July 2018 when Teagan Patell de Valverde (Impulso Sano Yoga & Wellness Center) and Miranda Abbott-Wittman (My Yoga with Miranda), with the support of their respective husbands Kendall "Kech" Valverde and Joshua Wittman, combined forces to offer yoga, dance, arts, and therapeutic bodywork in the Playas del Coco Community. After partnering for six months at the My Yoga with Miranda studio space, Coco Yoga & Wellness launched in January 2019. After another eleven months of valuable teamwork supporting each other, learning from one another, and synergizing their offerings, the partnership dissolved in November 2019 with Miranda and Joshua's shifting focus to family and furthering Ninos del Sol Eco School. Teagan and Kendall continued to operate Coco Yoga & Wellness from the Plaza Nino rented studio location through the end of January 2020, but as their priorities shifted in anticipating a new addition to their family, they made the difficult decision to close the space to focus their energies toward the creative process of building their home and yoga shala. Although there was sadness in closing this community center, given the lockdown that was to come in the following months, they were glad to have made the decision.
The quarantine has offered time for rest, reflection, art, study, and contemplative practice. As our global village and landscape are shifting so intensely, and as Teagan and Kendall are transforming so profoundly in caring for their baby daughter, their vision for what Coco Yoga & Wellness will become has been evolving. For now they are taking time to focus on family and to distill their vision and plans, and they look forward to the time when they may welcome the community into a new space. |

Location
We are in plans to build the new yoga shala toward the North-East end of the beach, past the Las Palmas anchor entrance, before Cafe de Playa, in front of the Pomas condominiums. We'll keep you posted as progress is made.
