Reiki Training & CertificationsI began my journey with Reiki somewhat inadvertently in 2008, accepting an invitation to join in Ann Twohig's level I training, which she had extended to the staff of the daycare where I worked in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Skeptical at first, having never before heard of anything like Reiki, I approached the material with an open mind. After completing the training and the intense attunement ceremony that left me feeling more light and peaceful than I could ever remember, I could not deny the practice's profound effect. I continued training in Costa Rica with Deva Mitra at Pachamama in 2011, and with Lori Lee Myles at Mystica in 2012 before completing the Master level course in the Usui/Tibetan Reiki system in 2013 with Michael Baird and Laurelle Gaia at Peace Place in Sedona, Arizona, becoming certified through The International Center for Reiki Training to teach Reiki and pass attunements. I have taught Level I & II Reiki trainings through my yoga studio spaces in Playas del Coco, Costa Rica, and at The Boghill Centre in Clare, Ireland, and I have loved sharing this amazing healing energy with clients, students, friends, and family, whether in professional settings, in spontaneous makeshift locations throughout my travels, or in the comfort of one's home. The more I work with the energy, the more it continues to open new realms of understanding and healing and call me to deepen this lifelong practice. Therapeutic Bodywork TrainingOnce I began working with clients on a regular basis offering Reiki Healing at my first yoga studio space, I started to notice that I was guided to specific bodypoints time and again, and felt inspired to pursue acupressure, reflexology, and other forms of healing bodywork to learn more about specific point systems and body structures. I began studies at McKinnon Body Therapy Center in Oakland, California in 2013, where I completed the Eastern Systems Program with Carl Johns and Jason Fry, and the Advanced Acupressure Program with Jason Frye and Kathleen Davis. At McKinnon I fulfilled over 555 hours of bodywork training in Acupressure, Reflexology, Lymph Drainage, Shiatsu, and Swedish Massage, and explored the foundations of Tui Na and Craniosacral Therapy. In 2015 I completed first-level certification in The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy with Eva Sengfelder in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica, and in 2018 in Escazu, Costa Rica, I studied with Rose Erin Vaughan to complete first-level certification in Science of Self Acupressure, a system bridging Acupressure with Yoga. I intend to continue study around how Acupressure and Yoga interplay and relate, and hope to explore more healing modalities in the years ahead. Healing PhilosophyI recognize that every individual is responsible for their own health and healing and follows their own path and timeframe, so I do not identify as a healer, rather seeing my role as a spacekeeper, providing an environment and opportunity to encourage and support an individual's own healing process. My role is to create a time and place for extended deep relaxation, inviting the parasympathetic nervous system to activate and the lymphatic system to reboot, to stimulate the body's natural functions to rest and repair, digest and process, detoxify and heal. With consistent focus toward a natural harmonious state, I sense where points of deficiency and excess may rebalance, places where holding may release, where inflammations may calm, where what is depleted may be nourished, and what is misaligned may recalibrate. Each session is unique to the individual, what is present in the moment, and how they may best be served.
