This yin yoga class invites us to take our time, moving with care and intention, and to explore the depths and reaches of our postures as we breathe into each pose for one to three minutes.  In Sanskrit, Prana denotes our primary energy — our breath, vital force, and consciousness.  In taking care to maintain full breath cycles, and in applying dynamic breath rhythms, we invite holding patterns within the body to release.  In focusing our awareness and directing our attentions, we create spaciousness in the body allowing for subtle shifts and transformations.  In visualizing the body's energetic meridian lines, we establish more harmonious Prana flows and restore the body's natural balance.  With the aid of our props — yoga blocks and straps, and massage balls — we are supported and encouraged to meet ourselves where we are, with full presence and loving acceptance.

This gentle Vinyasa Flow gives attention to the hips, glutes, and lower back.  Many practitioners consider the hips an area of long-held emotions where our responses to life’s upsets and traumas are stored or locked away. They can attest to how targeting this area and exercising on the physical level with asanas aimed at stretching and strengthening the hips, can encourage inner movement and spaciousness which may prompt or provoke emotional release.  In this one-hour practice we’ll warm up with more active flowing Vinyasa before slowing down into more yin-style stretches.  ​

FOR POSTPARTUM PARENTS WITH BABY

For postpartum parents navigating the fourth trimester, this time offers a supportive setting to get back in the body and focus on our own wellbeing.  Without the pressures of a lead class to arrive on time and stay until the end, without the worry of interrupting others with baby’s cries or needing to nurse or change, this is an invitation to make ourselves a priority, move our bodies, and shift our focus inward with baby by our side and in our care.  While this is a space for self-lead practice and tuning into our own personal needs, there is a social aspect of creating community in sharing our experiences, and if you need some guidance or inspiration about what will be helpful during this unique time, Teagan can offer suggestions for what may serve you.  Participants should make sure to respect doctors’ recommendations around what is safe after birth and err on the side of precaution.  One step at a time, showing up for yourself is half the practice.  This group is open to all postpartum parents with their babies up until they begin walking, and is offered on a donation basis.

Find your flow in this one-hour “Yang to Yin” Vinyasa class that incorporates both power and ease, like water, strong and soft.  Designed for all levels of practitioner to connect with their inner wisdom and outward grace, and to hone awareness around what’s best for the body, this class provides a great opportunity for students beginning their practice to build confidence and broaden understanding around the essential elements of Vinyasa Yoga.  Given that core strength is a fundamental building block, expect some core-work sequences to develop that foundation, but know that Taylor prioritizes guiding students safely with modifications to dial intensity up or down.  Discover how postures may be modified and sequences might progress to build a feeling of familiarity and fluidity in this supportive environment.

Restorative Yoga with Taylor

Wind down from your day with this restorative practice that may reduce stress, enhance flexibility, and improve sleep.  Taylor incorporates the earth element as she guides students through seated and reclined postures that help to ground our energies and release stresses and tensions.  Although this class is slow and gentle, it may challenge us to find ease in any discomfort in the longer holds. The breath shows the way through, and Taylor includes some pranayama technique to help develop this focus.  This practice is appropriate for all students, but consider having extra props for comfort if you have sensitive knees, and an eye-cover to support deep relaxation in the extended savasana with guided meditation.
