Coco Yoga & Wellness is not a business or location; it is a sangha--a community of people on a spiritual path--and a collective of independent contractors offering classes and sessions both in person and online. A shala space is available for community to convene and to create online content, whether live-streaming or saved offerings. The shala is located at a private residence and is not open to the general public. Instructors need to communicate and coordinate with their students who would like to attend in person, and remind everyone please to respect the private living space on the lower level. Be sure to arrive and leave only by the street access and extended staircase, within ten to fifteen minutes of the allotted class start and end times. For now there is no parking available on site, but parking may be found nearby on public streets.
Given the nature of Playas del Coco, with such an influx of tourists who visit for days and weeks, seasonal residents who return regularly for months at a time, and the temporary transplants who may settle for some years before moving on, although we enjoy a vibrancy that comes with new energies and constant change, those of us who live here full-time have longed for a more sustaining sense of community and connection. We hope to create this continuity in growing an online sangha rooted in the Coco community experience. Our aim is to offer a variety of classes, workshops, events, and services on online platforms so that we may keep up our practices, connections, and support-systems even when people move away from Coco. For those who are here now, we endeavor to bring people together to cultivate self-empowered health and wellbeing within a conscious container for intentional practice.

Vinyasa Flow with Teagan
mixed levels
Mondays 8:30 am & 7:00 Pm
Flow through progressive yoga sequences and experience the meditation in coordinating each inhalation and exhalation with deliberate movement. Class begins with centering ourselves and bringing awareness to the breath. We warm our bodies with gentle stretching and then move into aerobic standing sequences to build heat and develop strength. Seated sequences follow, moving through stretches to expand flexibility as we cool down for full relaxation. We rest in savasana to seal our bodies with the benefits of the practice, and end with a brief meditation.
PrANA Yin WITH Teagan
mixed levels & a great option for beginners
mondays 10:15 am
This yin yoga class invites us to take our time, moving with care and intention, and to explore the depths and reaches of our postures as we breathe into each pose for one to three minutes. In Sanskrit, Prana denotes our primary energy — our breath, vital force, and consciousness. In taking care to maintain full breath cycles, and in applying dynamic breath rhythms, we invite holding patterns within the body to release. In focusing our awareness and directing our attentions, we create spaciousness in the body allowing for subtle shifts and transformations. In visualizing the body's energetic meridian lines, we establish more harmonious Prana flows and restore the body's natural balance. With the aid of our props — yoga blocks and straps, and massage balls — we are supported and encouraged to meet ourselves where we are, with full presence and loving acceptance.
Flying flow with TeagaN
intermediate
wednesdays 8:30 am
While the look of inversions and arm-balances can be intimidating, this Vinyasa Flow class emphasizes the exploration and preparation toward flying postures, whether or not we ever achieve their fullest expression. Embarking on a conscious journey en route to flying through these poses, we confront our mental obstacles and develop our understanding and application of body mechanics, learning to establish firm foundations, shift gravity centers, and find balanced alignment. While this class is aimed toward more intermediate to advanced practitioners, anyone who is already familiar and comfortable with mixed levels Vinyasa practice may find this class helpful and enjoyable; we'll approach these challenges with lightheartedness in a supportive group. As always, all postures and transitions are suggestions about what we might work toward incorporating into our practice; it is always okay to modify or skip postures, or to stop, watch, and ask questions.
Yoga Foundations with TeagaN
beginner & open to all levels
Thursdays 10:15 am
Yoga Foundations offers an accessible and complete introduction to Vinyasa Yoga for those in the beginning stages of their practice, and invites more advanced students to delve into a slower-paced class to engage deeply with the core pillars of Vinyasa Flow. This class emphasizes moving consciously with the breath, developing body-awareness and breath-awareness, and teaches proper placement to build postures from the foundation up. Instruction cues aim to encourage body alignment for stability and strength, and to train our discipline while also fostering sensitivity to our limits and attuning to our body wisdom and intuition.

Yoga Program
We're nearing completion of the construction for our new beachfront shala, and we look forward to welcoming you soon into a beautiful and supportive health and healing space. For now, we've no in-person yoga offerings, but you may join in contemplative yoga practice here on the website or on social media, or discover classes from other local yoga practitioners in the Coco Yoga Community Facebook forum. Our time at home has been ripe for reflection and creativity, and this adventure in parenting pushes us to learn and grow each day. We are eager to connect with our community soon; please look to our social media pages for updates. We expect to complete construction in August 2024, and will apply for permits thereafter. Once everything is in order, we will invite teachers to begin offering classes and workshops, and will welcome our community to create wonderful experiences together. We appreciate your patience as the new space takes shape; thank you for your continued support! ~ Teagan & Kech
Location
We are in plans to build the new yoga shala toward the North-East end of the beach, past the Las Palmas anchor entrance, before Cafe de Playa, in front of the Pomas condominiums. We'll keep you posted as progress is made.

How can i teach a class at the studio?
While regular weekly classes center around different Yoga styles, other classes may include Meditation, Dance, Pilates, Tai Chi, Qigong, Feldenkrais, and other modalities involving creative movement, wellness, and self-care. Currently we offer classes for adults and have a Kid Club aimed at children 5-9 years; we'd love to offer classes designed for adolescents. We require a minimum three-month initial commitment to add a new class, and regular weekly classes need to be consistent and are canceled only for days the studio closes for scheduled holidays. If instructors need to miss a class, they are responsible to find a substitute from our sub-list and to cover a sub-incentive. Instructors that cannot meet this consistency requirement may be considered to teach their class as a workshop series. If you would like to teach a regular class at the studio, please submit to cocoyogaandwellness@gmail.com an application request including your biography with bio photo, resume and references, class description(s) with class photo(s), and proposed class day(s) and time(s). Once this application is received we may schedule an interview. Thank you!
How can i Be included on the substitute instructor list?
Instructors who do not wish to teach regular weekly classes but hope to be considered as substitute instructors or for private sessions and retreats generally must teach at least two yoga styles, or teach at least one yoga style and offer another wellness modality. We will consider candidates who live locally at least four months of the year. If you'd like to be considered as an instructor to substitute regular weekly classes or fulfill requests for private sessions and retreats, please submit to cocoyogaandwellness@gmail.com an application request including your biography with bio photo, resume and references, class or modality descriptions with photos, and information regarding your availability and conflicts. Once we receive this complete application request we can schedule a time for an interview. Thank you!
How can i join the bodywork team?
We hope to grow our Bodywork Therapist & Health Consultant Team and to offer more modalities. Currently we offer Reiki, Neuro-Cutaneous Technique, Thai Foot & Hand Massage, Acupressure, Reflexology and Lymph Drainage; we'd love to offer Ayurveda Consulting and Massage, Thai Massage, Shiatsu, Lomi Lomi, Mayan Abdominal Massage, Tui Na, Cranio-Sacral Therapy, Deep Tissue Massage, Swedish Massage, Trigger-Point Therapy, Physical Therapy, Feldenkrais, and Nutrition Consulting. If you'd like to be considered as a Bodywork Therapist or Health Consultant please submit to cocoyogaandwellness@gmail.com an application request including your biography with bio photo, resume and references, and modality descriptions with photos. Once we receive this complete application request we can schedule a time for an interview.

Can Yoga passes be Applied to Pole fitness classes?
Yes, yoga monthly passes may be used for Pole Fitness classes. Also, any class passes purchased to be used solely for Pole FItness classes have an extended 2-month expiry date.
how many poles are in the studio?
The studio currently has two poles up and ready to use, and a third pole is being prepared. Classes are limited to a maximum attendance of three people per pole.
what should i wear to class?
Wear comfortable activewear to class. Some moves require the torso or thighs to make skin contact with the pole, so you may want to wear a sports bra top and 'booty shorts' at least during the time practicing these moves. Please bring socks, too, to wear during some of the stretching cool-down exercises.
Are classes taught in English or spanish?
Desiret has been teaching primarily in Spanish, but she is comfortable teaching in English, too and can help students in both languages.
what experience do i need to attend class?
You do not need any prior experience to attend these mixed-level classes; Desiret will teach each student at their individual level. These classes will challenge you to build both strength and flexibility, and a consistent yoga class can support your work in Pole Fitness class if you hope to advance more quickly in mastering more difficult moves.
Can I book a private Pole Class or Pole Dance Party?
Yes, you may book private Pole Fitness and Pole Dance classes, and fun Pole Dance Party options are also available. Please contact us to inquire. Thank you!

SatSAng With teagan
Mondays 8:30 AM [november only]
Teagan is taking a step away from her regular schedule to guide a Satsang Monday mornings, where we may explore such ideas as ‘what is yoga?’ and ‘why do we keep showing up?’ Satsang refers to spiritual discourse or sacred gathering where community comes together in a quest for truth. We’ll have the freedom to explore what questions are present, and we may choose in community to plan other times throughout the week for self-led practice or a specific informal workshop. The Monday Satsang will be donation-based, so please show up and share your voice--we’ll be exploring, too, the idea of yoga as a business and accessibility. We hope this time of free exploration will support and align us to have our best possible season December - March in our Plaza Nino location, and to grow beyond this space in our journey toward building the beachfront location of our dreams. Community comprises the essence of this dream, and we’re taking this opportunity to root into community to weave our visions together and co-create. We’re counting on everyone to share their light and to play an active role in manifesting the future of Coco’s yoga community.
Please be advised, we will close for a rainy season break Friday September 27th through Sunday October 6th for some much needed rest and family time. Thursday September 26th will be the last day of classes until we reopen Monday October 7th. All passes will be extended accordingly. Our October schedule will shift a bit as Mahela takes time with family, and we will post the October schedule at the start of the break. Thank you for your understanding and your continued support; it is such a joy for our ‘work’ to mean sharing yoga in community.
